Comparing Rocking Chair Styles

As the end of summer approaches, we’re looking forward to enjoying Fall weather in a comfortable rocking chair with a hot cocoa in hand. If you’re in the market for your first rocking chair or hoping to add to your collection, you’re in luck! We have many options, traditional or adirondack, that will work with any outdoor space.

Presidential Rocker

Presidential Rocker

By far our most popular rocker, the Presidential Rocker is our only traditional style rocker available in both traditional and vibrant lumber colors. It’s shorter in overall height compared to the Jefferson Rockers, with a seat just a half an inch closer to the ground.

Presidential Woven Rocker

The same size as the Presidential Rocker (but a few pounds lighter), the woven version features an all-weather woven back and seat.

Jefferson Rocker

Jefferson Rocker

Our Jefferson Rocker lends a more traditional rocker – one you’d typically picture on a southern porch. Regardless of where you live, this rocker may be most comfortable for taller individuals while also providing the largest seat.

Classic Adirondack Rocker

Classic Adirondack Rocker

Our Classic Adirondack Rocker is modeled after our most-popular adirondack with a seat that is lowest to the ground of all our rockers. If you’re looking for a laid-back rocker with a beachy vibe, this is the chair you want.

Long Island Adirondack Rocker

Long Island Adirondack Rocker

The Long Island Adirondack Rocker is similar in size to our South Beach Adirondack Rocker and offers a more upright seat with straight arms.

Palm Coast Adirondack Rocker

Palm Coast Adirondack Rocker

Our Palm Coast Adirondack Rocker features a slightly wider seat than the Classic Adirondack Rocker as well as wider rocker feet profiles with roomy arm rests.

Seashell Adirondack Rocker

Seashell Adirondack Rocker

The Seashell Adirondack Rocker provides the roomiest seat of all our adirondack rockers and is only available in traditional lumber colors. Like the Palm Coast style this rocker features wider rocker feet profiles, but also a unique waterfall front (very comfortable behind your knees!) and seven back slats.

South Beach Adirondack Rocker

South Beach Adirondack Rocker

Just slightly heavier than the Long Island Adirondack Rocker, the South Beach Adirondack Rocker is almost identical in size and style (this seat is more upright as well), but features the curved South Beach style back rest with five slats.

Modern Trio Adirondack Rocker

Available through select Showroom Dealers

The Modern Trio Adirondack Rocker is one of our shortest rockers in overall height, same as the Classic Adirondack Rocker, and features three straight back slats for our most modern adirondack rocker look.

Quattro Adirondack Rocker

Quattro Adirondack Rocker

Very similar in size to the Modern Trio Rocker, the Modern Quattro Adirondack Rocker features four slightly fanned straight back slats and spacious arm rests.

  1. Have your chairs been tested in the sun in Florida? Intersted in your pricing. I would be interested in trying them in sunny Florida☀️

    1. Hi Jennifer! The formula for genuine POLYWOOD lumber includes a superior UV additive package designed for HDPE (high-density polyethylene) that improves exterior durability, greatly reducing characteristic surface degradation caused by sunlight and other UV light sources. While some fading may occur over the lifetime of the product, the toll the sun may take on any furniture, regardless of material, will vary depending on where your furniture placed (full sun vs partial shade) as well as where you live (Florida vs Ohio).

If you have more specific questions we’d be happy to answer them for you! Feel free to contact our team at support@polywoodinc.com.

  2. We have 2 Presidential Rockers we love, but unfortunately we moved and the color of them does not go well with the colors of the new house. Can the Presidential Rocker be painted? If yes, what special process do I need to use?

    1. While we don’t recommend painting POLYWOOD® lumber, one thought we had to help tie in the rockers with your new home is with accessories (pillows, plants, etc). Feel free to send us a photo of your rockers next to your home and we’d be happy to make any accessorizing suggestions we can: support@polywoodinc.com.

    1. Hi Natalie! Our St. Croix Rocking Chair is still available, it’s just exclusive to Target. You can find the entire St. Croix Collection for Target at Target.com.
